
Project Objectives
The main objective of the SUNFLOWERS project is to develop advanced batteries storage technologies connected to hybrid system with enhanced safety, performance, sustainability, cost and recyclability for different applications. The SUNFLOWERS consortium will combine groundbreaking innovative approaches/strategies and targeted modification in main cell components (cathode, anode, electrolyte, separator, and binder) to develop new safer materials for high-performing cells. Special emphasis will be on validating selected high performing materials in the laboratory prototype cells to demonstrate scalability to battery cell, mass production processes, recycling and possibility of battery integration into the hybrid system. Project will also focus on improving the existing infrastructure in east Slovakia region to attract the students and offer the battery trainings for existing employees in automotive industry.
Specific project objectives:
- To develop advanced Li-ion battery components with enhanced safety and performance (TRL3 – TRL5)
- To develop advanced redox-flow battery components with enhanced performance (TRL3 – TRL5)
- To demonstrate and validate the hybrid system, performance, recyclability and sustainability (TRL3 – TRL5)
